The fruit evolution chain
Every merge climbs one step up this chain. Only the five smallest fruits ever drop — everything from the apple up has to be earned by merging:
How the watermelon game works
The rules fit in one sentence — drop fruits, and when two of the same kind touch they merge into the next fruit up — but the physics make every game different. Fruits roll, bounce and wedge into gaps, so a merge you planned can trigger a chain of three more, or a careless drop can strand a grape on top of your almost-watermelon and ruin the run. The box feels generous for the first minute; by the time pineapples and melons appear, every millimetre of floor space matters.
Two things decide your score. First, order: keep the biggest fruits in one corner and arrange the rest in descending size, so merges happen where you want them. Second, patience: the next-fruit preview shows what is coming, and the five fruits that drop are all small — the skill is placing small fruit where it will be useful in ten drops' time, not where it fits right now. When the stack creeps toward the dashed line, don't panic-drop: one good merge in the middle of the pile can collapse the whole stack and save the game.

Watermelon game FAQ
- How do you play the watermelon game?
- Move the fruit at the top and click or tap to drop it. When two fruits of the same kind touch, they merge into the next, bigger fruit. Keep merging up the chain — cherry, strawberry, grape and so on — until you grow a watermelon. If the stack piles up past the dashed line, the game ends.
- What fruits can drop?
- Only the five smallest fruits drop: cherry, strawberry, grape, orange and persimmon. Bigger fruits can only be created by merging.
- How do you get a watermelon?
- Merge two melons. The reliable way is to keep your biggest fruits in one corner, build each side of the box in descending order, and protect your two melons from getting separated by small fruits. Our tips page explains the full strategy.
- Is this the Suika game?
- Melon Merge is a free web game in the same fruit-merge style as Suika, the watermelon game from Aladdin X. It is an independent implementation that runs in your browser — it is not affiliated with or endorsed by the original. More on the Suika page.
- Can I play on my phone?
- Yes. The game is built for touch: drag to aim, release to drop. It also works with a mouse and with the arrow keys plus space bar on a computer.
